[Present Indicative] Callo mi opinión para evitar una pelea innecesaria. → I keep my opinion quiet to avoid an unnecessary fight.
[Present Perfect] Él ha callado la verdad durante muchos años. → He has kept the truth quiet for many years.
[Imperfect Indicative] Los pájaros callaban cuando el gato aparecía. → The birds used to go silent when the cat appeared.
[Pluperfect Indicative] Ya lo habíamos callado todo antes de que llegara el jefe. → We had already hushed everything up before the boss arrived.
[Preterite] La multitud calló cuando empezó la música. → The crowd went silent when the music began.
[Preterite Anterior] En cuanto hubo callado el orador, el público aplaudió. → As soon as the speaker had finished (gone silent), the audience cheered.
