[Present Indicative] Comienzo el trabajo a las nueve. → I begin work at nine.
[Present Perfect] He comenzado una nueva dieta. → I have started a new diet.
[Imperfect Indicative] Comenzaba a llover cuando salimos. → It was starting (used to start) to rain when we left.
[Pluperfect Indicative] Ya había comenzado la película cuando llegué. → The movie had already started when I arrived.
[Preterite] Comencé a estudiar español el año pasado. → I started to study Spanish last year.
[Preterite Anterior] Apenas hubo comenzado el discurso, se fue la luz. → As soon as the speech had begun, the power went out.
