Usage Examples
[Present Indicative] Echo sal a la sopa. → I put salt in the soup.
[Present Perfect] Ella ha echado la carta al buzón. → She has dropped (thrown) the letter in the mailbox.
[Imperfect Indicative] Mi madre echaba azúcar al café. → My mother used to put sugar in the coffee.
[Pluperfect Indicative] Ya habíamos echado la basura cuando pasó el camión. → We had already thrown out the trash when the truck passed.
[Preterite] Él echó el agua en el jarrón. → He poured the water into the vase.
[Preterite Anterior] Apenas hubo echado el cierre, se fue. → As soon as he had closed up (put the lock), he left.
[Future] Echaré más leña al fuego. → I will throw more wood on the fire.
[Future Perfect] Para mañana ya habremos echado todos los cimientos. → By tomorrow we will have already laid (thrown) all the foundations.
