Usage Examples

[Present Indicative] Resto los gastos del presupuesto total. → I subtract the expenses from the total budget.

[Present Perfect] Eso le ha restado importancia al asunto. → That has taken away importance from the matter.

[Imperfect Indicative] Ella restaba los días para sus vacaciones. → She used to count down (subtract) the days until her vacation.

[Pluperfect Indicative] Ya habíamos restado el descuento antes de pagar. → We had already subtracted the discount before paying.

[Preterite] Resté diez puntos de su calificación. → I subtracted ten points from his grade.

[Preterite Anterior] Apenas hubo restado la deuda, se sintió aliviado. → As soon as he had subtracted (paid off) the debt, he felt relieved.

[Future] Restaremos la comisión del precio final. → We will subtract the commission from the final price.

[Future Perfect] Para el lunes habré restado todas las pérdidas. → By Monday I will have subtracted all the losses.

[Conditional] Restaría valor a la casa si no la pintaras. → It would take away value from the house if you didn't paint it.
